About Zanzinet
What is Zanzinet?
Zanzinet is a forum that brings together Zanzibaris of all backgrounds and from all corners of the world to discuss and share ideas and information about matters relating to and for the benefit of Zanzibar.
Unlike other websites or forums, which are profit oriented, Zanzinet has no business interests whatsoever. It is managed by dedicated volunteers and kept alive by penny to penny contributions from individual Zanzibaris from all over the world. Bottom line, Zanzinet is one of the few forums to be owned by its members.
Zanzinet History
The Zanzinet Forum was officially launched in August 1994. Kassim A. Abdullah and Hassan O. Ali, by then students at Queens and Ottawa Universities in Canada respectively, were the founders of Zanzinet Forum. Using simple mail forwarding services they began circulating messages among Zanzibaris, initially in Canada, but in a spell of few years Zanzinet had members from countries worldwide.

Mission Statement
The aim of Zanzinet is to promote and celebrate the racial and cultural diversity of Zanzibaris and their social, intellectual and economic development.
As a discussion forum, Zanzinet seeks to expand and deepen the culture of critical and independent thinking while observing tolerance and the respect of the integrity of individuals.
Zanzinet will honor those members who will set a good example in the promotion of freedom from all forms of discrimination and the advocacy of unity and understanding among Zanzineters and Zanzibaris in general.
The leading principle towards which the intentions and efforts of Zanzinet directly converges is the actualization of the diversity of the social fabric of Zanzibaris in bringing about the development of our beautiful islands and communities in their richest diversity.
