Election results (updates) ...
Until now, ZEC has declared CCM the winner in Jang'ombe, Mpendae, Magomeni, Kikwajuni, and Kiembesamaki. The results are announced in closed doors. Television Zanzibar (TVZ) and Radio Zanzibar (STZ) are the only media institutions allowed in the room. This morning, police have beaten CUF supporters in the Stone Town because they were celebrating their victory. ZEC has just declared CUF as the winner in Mtambile, Chambani, Mkoani, Ole, Wete, Kiwani, Wambaa, Gando, and Mtambwe, all from the island of Pemba. CUF supporters in Dar es salaam have been demonstrating in protest to the manipulation of election results in Zanzibar.
Reports indicate that the authorities have decided to declare Amani Karume to be the winner of the presidential race. He will be sworn in office on November 2nd, 2005. The celebrations committee has been informed and invitation cards should be issued after the official announcement.
There are reports that the British High Commissioner has been seen with the ZEC chairperson, Masauni Yussuf heading to the ZEC head office. Elsewhere, CUF leaders, Ibrahim Lipumba and Maalim Seif have just left their head office and urged their supporters to be calm as it is clear that the victory is ours.
CCM has been declared the winner in eight constituencies in Unguja including Mpendae and Magomeni.
Radio Tanzania has announced CCM's Mahmoud Thabit Kombo as the winner of the Mpendae constituency.
There are reports that CUF is winning seats in Kiembesamaki and Rahaleo but CCM have refused to endorse the results.

According to reliable sources, Mkapa came to Zanzibar last night after getting worried of failing on their strategy. It is believed that he has directed ZEC not to announce Maalim Seif as the winner.
