Land is government owned and it can be acquired by lease of up to 49 years through Department of Lands and Surveys. ZIPA facilitates the acquisition.

WORK AND RESIDENCE PERMITS
ZIPA facilitates the issuance of work and residence permits for investors and expatriates personnel.
TELECOMMUNICATION FACILITIES
Zanzibar is well served by five main telecommunication companies operating in Tanzania. These include TTCL, MOBITEL, ZANTEL, VODACOM and CELTEL. Almost the whole of l Zanzibar is covered and can be communicable. Telephone rates are reasonable.
WORK FORCE
There is ample hardworking and trainable work force to serve investment projects. The minimum wage is Tshs. 45,000/=. English is adequately spoken in the islands making efficient communication in the tourism industry and investment in general.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND UTILITIES
Electricity:
Electricity is supplied mainly by the Hydroelectric Power (HEP) from Mtera dam in Mainland Tanzania. The Island of Pemba is served by industrial diesel oil- run generators. The applicable current is 220v and confirms to British standards.
Water
Zanzibar has adequate water reserves for industrial and household use. Minimum infrastructure is needed to ensure water supply reaches any part of the island
Transport and Freight
Roads : A network of tarmac trunk road covers most parts of Zanzibar. A passable network of tertiary roads reaches all rural areas.
Port : An easily accessible seaport caters for ocean going vehicles as well as offer handling services for passengers arriving on ferries.
Airport : The Zanzibar airport is able to handle diverse sizes of aircraft, which can be used to fly- in tourist and cargo. Currently the airport is undergoing major rehabilitation with financing from the World Bank
